'Protect The Swamps', May 20th, 2024

Finishing up the semester included completion of this 5 layer linoleum and woodblock print. It presents a women ripping apart a false gator that works to kill the native life. This piece was inspired strongly by the 'Alter Ego' music video by Doechii and while the colors ended up different than intended the design of the piece came out successful in my eyes.

Due to our deadline for this project, I was given the opportunity to use my schools saw mill to laser cut the top (black) layer from the original digital illustration. This was a tool I had never used before and seeing the process of my exact illustration be carved of wood and smelling the smokey char of the piece after was all an incredibly satisfying experience on its own. Using this technique gave the print a much more graphic and presice look than if it had been handcarved and helped achieve a more accurate look to what I had intended.
