'Magic, do as you will.' is an ongoing series of stills that appear like myths. With staged, exaggerated poses and clothing, and saturated colors, I want the images to take the viewer to a reality where this simply is. Worlds of adventure, where nature is involved to help display ones true intentions. These paintings permit oneself to be direct and open with the emotions that are overwhelmingly normal in these worlds, feelings in response to love, control, and self-image.

       Taken from the 1982 animated movie, The Last Unicorn, 'Magic, do as you will.' is said by the inconsistent wizard Schmendrick. I always took this quote to mean a release of control, and instead posing a request for collaboration with the world around him. Control over my environment is something that I have held onto for a long time. Through this collection I hoped to relieve some of that hold and allow myself to embrace the situations and settings that find themselves around me. We are meant to share this world and through sharing it and being kind to it and ourselves I think can only lead to love.
